Derrick Hermann is Waldo State Bank's Vice President and Chief Loan Officer. Derrick grew up in Two Rivers, Wisconsin before earning his BBA from UW Whitewater in 2003. Derrick chose a career in banking after an opportunity was presented to him in 2005 and he has not looked back ever since. “Knowing that I can make a positive impact on an individual or a family’s life by helping them achieve their goal of a home or purchasing their first vehicle is rewarding for me. Being a small part of helping others achieve their goal is my motivation.”
Derrick became a part of the Waldo State Bank family in February of 2009. He says he was most attracted to the bank’s small, hometown atmosphere. “Waldo State Bank appealed to me because of the opportunities I would have to learn many aspects of banking as well as having the opportunity to participate firsthand in the growth of the bank.” Derrick helps facilitate growth and customer satisfaction at Waldo State Bank by leveraging his expertise in all areas of lending. While Derrick has completed many banking school programs, he holds his completion UW Madison’s Graduate School of Banking program in his highest regard.
Outside of his busy days helping Waldo State Bank customers achieve their financial dreams, Derrick enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters. His hobbies include golfing, hunting, and being outdoors. He is the Treasurer for both the Sheboygan County Board of Realtors and Plymouth area Ducks Unlimited. Derrick is also the President and Ambassador of the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce and chair-elect member of BOLT (Building Our Leaders of Tomorrow), the Wisconsin Bankers Association sub-committee.
For Derrick, his future at Waldo State Bank is outlined with goals. “For myself, I want to continue to be a crucial member of our team and contribute to the growth of our bank. For our customers, I would like them to feel that they can rely on us to help them navigate through their financial roadmap. I want my clients to think of Waldo State Bank first when they are making that next big home, vehicle, or business purchase.” As for Waldo State Bank itself, Derrick hopes to continue organic growth, add more Waldo State Bank locations, and implement additional programs or products for customers, all while staying true Waldo State Bank’s community roots.”
So why does Derrick think should customers choose Waldo State Bank? “While you are here you will feel comfortable. Value is placed on you and your character. You are not just a number. The customers and staff are all teammates working towards a common goal. Waldo State Bank is not, and will not portray, the culture of the behemoth financial institutions. As we move towards the future, I never want us to lose the small-town community bank touch.”
