Sherry Gallagher is Waldo State Bank's Lead Compliance Officer. Sherry is a Plymouth native who currently lives in Cascade with her husband, dog, and cat. The couple has raised seven children and has welcomed five grandchildren into their family!
Sherry earned her degree in Accounting, but she didn’t stop there. She has attended banking schools and training seminars for the past 11 years to further her knowledge of banking. Today, Sherry’s organization and problem-solving skills have led her into the position of Waldo State Bank’s Lead Compliance Officer.
Sherry’s love of numbers contributed to her choice to pursue a career in banking. “Numbers are black and white! I’ve been in the Accounting field for the past 26 years and have always loved the complexity of it. Sprinkle in some Compliance or Policy and Procedure writing and it is an awesome job!”
Sherry joined the Waldo State Bank family in April of 2008. “It is flexible, close to home, and the people here are wonderful! I banked with them before I became a team member. After my kids were in school full-time, I was looking for change and a new challenge in my life. My favorite part of working at Waldo State Bank is the people, both our customers and our employees. It truly is an extended family!”
Outside of her Compliance role for Waldo State Bank, Sherry is active in her community’s non-profit organizations such as the Cascade Lion’s Club and the Cascade Fire Department Women’s Auxiliary. Her hobbies include traveling, camping, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.
Sherry has several goals outlined for her future. "I'd like to return to my first love of working more on the Accounting side of the bank. I'd also like to ease into the retirement phase of my life so I can spend more time with my family and travel." As for the bank, Sherry hopes to continue to contribute to and share in Waldo State Bank’s growth.
When asked why customers should choose Waldo State Bank, Sherry’s reply is short and sweet. “People should choose Waldo State Bank for our uniqueness! We cater to our customers by not competing with the big guys. This allows us to offer uniqueness as a community bank to those who don’t fit in or feel comfortable with the large, corporate-size banks.”
