Ted Katsma is Waldo State Bank’s Deposit Operations Officer and Computer Support Specialist. Ted grew up in Oostburg, WI where he currently lives with his family. He graduated from Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, choosing a career in banking so he could help others succeed in securing their financial future. “I enjoy helping people succeed financially.”
Ted joined Waldo State Bank in October of 2013. Ted is the man Waldo State Bank customers meet with when they want to set up retirement and HSA accounts to procure future financial security. “I work with customers on their Traditional and Roth Individual Retirement Accounts as well as Health Savings Accounts. I enjoy helping people succeed financially.”
Working with Waldo State Bank’s customers, educating them on efficient investment practices, and guiding them to meet their goals is what Ted says is the most rewarding aspect of his position. “When customers come in and have questions about a new account, mobile banking, or any other deposit product, we are able to answer those questions or provide some guidance. It’s a great feeling guiding a customer so that they leave more educated than when they came in.”
Outside of his important role at Waldo State Bank, Ted enjoys outdoor recreational activities like biking, hiking, and water sports. He also coaches his son’s basketball team and is involved in his children’s church and school activities. Together, the Katsma family also helps provide many needs for children in the foster care system.
Ted believes Waldo State Bank’s personal, quality service is what separates the bank from its large-scale, corporate entity competitors. “We are an independent, locally-minded bank. Even though we may be smaller than other banks out there, we can provide many of the same products they can, but with a higher level of customer service and commitment.”
For the bank’s future goals, Ted looks to growth that will retain the core values Waldo State Bank was founded on. “I want the bank to grow yet keep the independent culture we’ve created for the past 100 years intact for our next 100 years. Ted’s personal goals are set just as high. “For myself, to wish to one day fly high enough to view the curvature of the Earth.”
